A little bit about me
I’m an internet-obsessed designer in Virginia. I spend most of my time drawing rectangles, reading Twitter, and designing at 3200%.
I started out making websites with a few spare hours, an HTML tutorial, and an Angelfire account. Now, a handful of years and a degree later, I’m lucky enough to have turned something that began as a hobby into a career. With every project that I work on, I strive to make it easy to use, nice to look at, and subtly funny. I believe that planning, organizing, and wireframing are just as important as typography, padding, and pixel-perfect details. Also, I’m obsessed with the color grey.
According to Strengthsfinder 2.0, my top five strengths are Achiever, Input, Learner, Individualization, and Intellection. My Achiever tendencies define a large part of who I am.
My days are filled with soy lattes, obsessive Evernoting, and celebrity gossip. I have a growing collection of ampersands and love a good portmanteau. My last name is pronounced like Harley but has an absurd amount of double letters. And, yes, I am actually small enough to fit in a box.
I couldn't design without:
- Photoshop
- Illustrator
- Axure
- Evernote
- Dropbox
- TextWrangler
- iTunes
- MacBook Pro
- Reeder
- Pattern Tap
- Dribbble
- my iPhone
- whiteboards
- good ol' paper and pen
When I'm not designing, I'm:
- reading books, both fiction and non
- listening to music
- drinking red wine
- shopping online
- playing on a C-league co-ed softball team
- reading the internet
